YOUR BODY IS EXPOSED TO MORE THAN YOU THINK
Your cup of tea might come with an unexpected extra ingredient: microplastics. And it doesn’t stop at teabags.
Josephine Musco, founder of Olyxir, joins us to explore how everyday products like tea, plastic bottles, food packaging, and even laundry pods can contribute to our exposure to microplastics and chemical additives. After losing her dad to cancer, Josephine became passionate about prevention, epigenetics, and finding practical ways to reduce everyday exposure.
In this episode, we cover:
- How teabags can release microplastics and nanoplastics into hot water
- Everyday sources of plastic exposure you might be overlooking
- What BPA, phthalates, and other plastic additives are
- Why reducing exposure matters before jumping into detox trends
- How fiber and filtration fit into a practical approach to wellness
- Josephine’s journey into olive leaf research and antioxidant preservation
- The dissolvable tea strips designed to replace traditional teabags
- How wellness brands can develop products with prevention in mind
If you care about microplastics, clean tea, non-toxic living, and realistic ways to support your health, this conversation will make you look at your everyday habits a little differently.

Welcome And Plastic Anxiety
SPEAKER_02Okay, so welcome to our podcast. This is a little bit different today because this podcast is a spin-off of our radio show. I just start. I just go like we're on the podcast has started. The interview started. I'm grateful that you're here. Thank you.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_02And I've we have yet to have a guest that shows up with notes and stuff. What what are the notes?
SPEAKER_03Uh no, it's just one of my patents. I was just reading on it. Um I'm also launching a book.
SPEAKER_02You are?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's coming out at the end of the month. So I was just reading through it and yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's actually the book?
SPEAKER_03Uh it's draft, yeah.
SPEAKER_02What's the book about?
SPEAKER_03Plastic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we got to get into that. That thing, though, the plastic thing is blowing up, right? The microplastic. It's like the thing, it's like the buzzword. It's like, and it's now it's always in my head now. Every time I drink coffee in the morning and I have the courig, and now I'm like, oh, yeah. There's plastic in my courig cup. And then I went to go buy a new coffee maker because I was like, I'm gonna get rid of the cut, the courig. And then it's like, oh, but all the parts are plastic. So I'm looking for, oh, and then my Instagram, I know my Instagram now like listens.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And now I have ads for coffee makers.
SPEAKER_03Isn't it amazing how how much they track us?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I'll be talking to my daughter about something or with my friend. And the next thing I know is my feed is like flooded with just specific things about what we were talking about. This is creepy. I mean, it's cool. We have a lot of information, but it's also like invasion of privacy, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Big time. Do you know, speaking of that, like when I bring you up a coffee maker, because I know we're gonna get into your tea, but is there a coffee brand or maker that you trust that doesn't have plastics in it?
SPEAKER_03I am not a coffee drinker. Uh, so I have not done my homework on like an amazing coffee machine. However, I have been targeted by a bunch of ads where the coffee maker has zero plastic in it, no plastic tubing and nothing, but I couldn't tell your name of a brand. I know if you look it up, if you do a little bit of digging on Google, I'm sure it will pop up. But there are, there are some. And you probably want to start with coffee that doesn't have any mold, right? That's tested, third-party tested for heavy metals, and get it like the beans, you know, get the get a machine that actually grinds them right there and then and then use them. That's probably the best thing. That's the other thing.
SPEAKER_02I buy the coffee grinder. So I get uh I'm a fan of Dave Asprey's. I like Dave Asprey's.
SPEAKER_03I love Dave Asprey. I love he's one of he's one of my most favorite people in the industry. Really?
SPEAKER_02I he's on he's on here next month.
SPEAKER_03Really genuine, kind, supportive, selfless.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's in such a wealth of knowledge.
SPEAKER_02I bought his sunglasses. I should have had them on while I was talking to you. Uh but so I bought his danger coffee, and then I was grinding the beans, and I looked at my coffee thing, it was a plastic grinder. It's like plastic's everywhere, it's everywhere, right?
SPEAKER_03Plastic is everywhere.
SPEAKER_02So, how did you get involved? And I'm gonna get to you to Elixir and all this stuff, but how did how did this how did this happen for you? When did you become so obsessed with the microplastics?
SPEAKER_03I started being obsessed with epigenetics and health and wellness and biohacking and all that stuff when I was like 14, 15 years old.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_03Um, and I started really digging into what turns on, you know, we know that our genetic makeup loads the gun. Why then why do some people get sick and others don't, right? And we all have genes in our bodies that have some disease and whatever. What what what pulls the trigger? And so I really spend you know the last decade of my life and more just really, really digging into what what makes people sick and what doesn't make people sick. And um it's amazing because not only does lifestyle, the way you eat, uh exercise, all the other stuff turn off these genes and prevent you from getting the disease, but it also turns it off for your offspring. So if you are able to turn off these genes and override um your genetic makeup in that way, like for example, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, all that stuff, then when you have kids, they are less likely to have that gene turn on and and being expressed. And you know, obviously they will also uh hopefully inherit your healthy lifestyle and eating habits and all that stuff. Because you know, like I mentioned before, part of disease is the genetic makeup, but a big, big, big part is how we live.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I had uh some heart issues because of my dad, and my doctor was like, hey, that's a small percentage. You can overcome all those issues by how you eat, how you exercise, how you live. So I became obsessed with all this stuff probably probably the last 10 years. But what did it for you for me was my dad having a heart attack at 66 years old and he died. And I was like, Whoa, this dude, my dad was in shape. So what what was it for you at 14? My dad.
SPEAKER_03Oh, your dad. Yeah, my dad got diagnosed got diagnosed with the big C. And um, and it was just such a shock for me because he he was very holistic and he um, you know, you couldn't guess that it's something that would have happened to him. But um, and that's when I was like, okay, why my dad? Why not my uncle? His brother, you know, who has the same father and mother. Um and you know, I just dug down, you know, went down the rabbit hole and stuff. And then uh obviously part of my um
Epigenetics And A Father’s Loss
SPEAKER_03biohacking, epigenetic, healthy lifestyle, I started, you know, drinking a lot of herbal teas that helped, you know, with various things in the body. And um then I graduated and he didn't make it to my graduation. So after I graduated, um I wanted to do something to honor his life. And I went with the USDA, they gave me a creative agreement. He really loved olive leaves. Uh he was a big fan of the whole olive tree in in general. And um olive leaves had a really high importance for him, and he thought that they were the most medicinal things that Mother Nature ever gave us. Um, and so he he believed that they lowered blood pressure, sure, blood sugar, he cleaned our wounds with the olive leaf water. Um, you know, so I wanted to scientifically prove that these leaves actually had medicinal values, and um, I got a creative agreement uh with the USDA in Berkeley and worked for I don't know, two years and eventually studied all 52 varietals of olive trees um and to figure out which one tastes the best, which one has has the highest antioxidant uh activity, but also I studied what time of the year and what time of the day this antioxidant activity, antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial activity is the most prominent and really high.
SPEAKER_01What the heck?
SPEAKER_03And so we harvested the leaves from the specific varietal of trees at the right time, at the right, you know, time of the year, right time of the day. And then I ran it through a patented process to prevent the enzymatic um degradation of the antioxidants in the leaf.
SPEAKER_02You're using a lot of big words for me. Okay. So you're gonna probably have to.
SPEAKER_03So you know, when you pick a tree, like when you pick a a a leaf from the tree or a fruit from the tree or a vegetable, once you pick it, it starts losing its antioxidants, which are like the free rod. These are like the little little creatures that go in your body and they like kill everything that's not good, right? They give you antioxidants, they make you younger, they make you healthier, right? Um, and so what what my goal was was to just stop that degradation. So when once you pick it, you lose like 20% of the antioxidants. And when it sits um, you know, for a minute, it's gonna lose more when it's exposed to light, water.
SPEAKER_02So it's better to eat it as soon as you put pick it, the sooner. Like is that why farmers' markets are great?
SPEAKER_03Right when you pick it.
SPEAKER_02Right when you pick it, okay.
SPEAKER_03Right when you pick it, like as as fast as possible, because the longer it sits, the more it's exposed to light and moisture, the more it's gonna lose antioxidants.
SPEAKER_02But when you say the olive tree and the olive leaves, is this actually where like olive stuff comes from? Like uh olive oil?
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02All the stuff, right?
SPEAKER_03So olive leaves are a big bio bio waste. So a big waste of the agricultural uh industry, especially in California, um, because there is a lot of olive trees, olive orchards here. So we took these leaves and we instead of making them lose their antioxidants, we made them create more antioxidants. And then uh we stabilized, we stopped the degradation. So we stabilized those antioxidants. So the then I came out with a powder that looks like, you know, matcha?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03It looks exactly like matcha, but doesn't have any lead, it doesn't have any caffeine. Um, so we took it this powder that we ended up with has five times more antioxidants than fresh leaves.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_03Um and they're stable and bioavailable.
SPEAKER_02So but there's no caffeine. Uh will you have a brand that has caffeine or are you anti-caffeine?
SPEAKER_03No, no, it's just olive leaves naturally don't have caffeine in it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But would you ever put some in it? You're not like to add caffeine.
SPEAKER_03Uh well, we have matcha strips. So we we have, yeah, we have everything.
SPEAKER_02Oh, so you have matcha? Yes.
SPEAKER_03That's from your We have matcha from for the strips, yes. Okay. So this is this is my first patent was on the olive leaf. Okay. So that's how I started with the thing. Um just telling you how how I got obsessed with microplastics.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03Um, then I wanted to get this powder to the mass market, and I was like, okay, what's the best way to do it? Is tea. So I was looking at tea bags, and I bought every tea bag on the market, studied it at the USDA labs, and they all had chemicals, toxins, microplastics.
SPEAKER_02A lot of them?
SPEAKER_03All everyone. No, but like like how many microplastics in the well it goes, so you have the polyproline bags that are fully plastic.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_03And those have billions. So billions. Billions. So like Jillian Diversity, yeah. Just came out with a study that's something that I can quote, but there's a lot of other studies. But this one is super recent and it's very quoted right now. They said a traditional teabag, not the fully polyproline one, not the traditional teabag, when steeped in hot boiling water, releases up to 11.6 billion microplastics and 3.1 billion nanoplastics per cup. So that mug you drink every morning has this many billions of microplastics and nanoplastics.
SPEAKER_02Billions?
SPEAKER_03Billions.
SPEAKER_02And that's and that stays in your body.
SPEAKER_03That stays in your body. And the smaller particles, which are the nanoplastics, are smaller than one micron, actually are crossing the blood-brain barrier, the testicular barrier, and the follicular barrier, and are causing cognitive decline, infertility, low sperm, uh count, and motility. Um, so they're finding them everywhere in the body.
SPEAKER_02I saw this thing that says something like we have like a credit card size plastic. No?
SPEAKER_03That's actually exaggerated. You would need to eat like a lot of plastic to have that. I actually dug into that and it's depunked in my book. I explain it. I explained it really uh in detail.
SPEAKER_02So how much do you think each human has of plastic in their body if you have billions of particles?
SPEAKER_03So a recent postmortem uh postmortum tissue study for of the brain found that the an average person's brain contains a teaspoon of plastic.
SPEAKER_02A teaspoon? That's still that's still a lot. Yeah, 0.5. That's like this of plastic.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_02Can we get it out?
SPEAKER_03Um, you know, there's not a hundred percent we can get it out,
Olive Leaf Research And Patents
SPEAKER_03right? And especially from things where places where it's lodged, like the brain. Um there are, you know, a lot of ways, like sauna, uh, you know, detox protocols. I know Dr. Pompa has a really good detox protocol for microplastics.
SPEAKER_02I just sauna before I came here. I saw uh, you know, that guy that wants to live to be a billion years old, Brian Johnson?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I saw him just like two days ago posted something uh in the sauna. He he gave a bunch of rundowns of all the positive things that happened, and I thought he said in one of them that he was able to, because you know he's testing everything, but he was able to eliminate a certain amount of plastics from his body because of the sauna. I don't know what that number is. Do you?
SPEAKER_03So our pores have are a certain size, and I know Dr. Rafael Gonzalez talks a lot about that. The pore size. Um, so maybe there are certain particles that can be excreted through our our pores and our skin and through sweating, but there are a lot of other particles that are lodged in different parts of like the fat, the adipose fat. Some of some of these microplastics are sitting, like they're embedded in our fat cells.
SPEAKER_02So we need to get rid of our fat.
SPEAKER_03Um, we need to get rid of our fat. But the problem is the body cannot break down that fat, doesn't know what to do with it because it's made from plastic and fat. So it's like, what do what is this? How do I break it down? What do I do with it? LIFO. Uh well, you know, there's you know, fiber-rich foods.
SPEAKER_02Um there's you know, so fiber can help get rid of the microplastic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's fiber is is good because well that's good.
SPEAKER_02So that's like metamucil, that's like the poly, what do you call it? The philium husk, right? If you drink that, some of that helps you.
SPEAKER_03You know, there's a lot of different different types of of uh fiber, but you have to make sure that you tolerate the fiber because some people don't tolerate fiber well. It's also something I talked with Dave Astra. He's not keen on fiber, he doesn't love fiber, you know. And you have to make sure also that this fiber is is organic, uh, and it's truly organic because if you're in taking a lot of fiber, which is noted to have a high level of glyphosate, you're kind of being counterproductive.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I didn't know that. I just thought so like he probably doesn't like metamucil.
SPEAKER_03He's not he's not a fan of of uh fiber. He just doesn't think it's um it's a one-size-fits-all world and it can cause more complication in the digestive system than help um eliminate microplastics.
SPEAKER_02So let me go back to your um to your dad, because you said he was very holistic. Was he a a doctor or was he in the medical field?
SPEAKER_03No, no, no. He was a he was uh in construction, so he was a good thing.
SPEAKER_02He was in construction, but he was very much into Yeah, he loved nature and everything natural. And so when you were in where where'd you go to college? You said when you graduated?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, here in in Berkeley in California.
SPEAKER_02Well, you went to Berkeley and then he he passed away.
SPEAKER_03He passed away a year before I graduated.
SPEAKER_02Wow. So when you talk about olive leaves, do you yourself take olive oil?
SPEAKER_03No, I take olive leaf though.
SPEAKER_02So uh well, olive leaf okay, so let me backtrack. I take uh I got obsessed because someone told me to take olive oil every day. So I drink a I started doing a little, I was measuring it. Now I just take the bottle and I I drink the olive oil like that because I heard it's really good for you because of the polyphenols.
SPEAKER_03Well, there's a lot of polyphenols in in the in the olive leaf, um, without the the fat from the olive oil. And also there's a thing with olive oil is um, you know how you've heard about seed oils from Benazati and everybody talks about seed oils, how bad they are for you, and it's because they're oxidized, right?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03And olive oil is not far from there because if it's not processed properly, if it's not packaged properly and stored properly, it will oxidize. Like I mentioned at the beginning, light temperature changes, moisture, oxidize.
SPEAKER_02That's why I think Dave Asprey says get the dark bottle.
SPEAKER_03Dark bottle, make sure it's cold pressed, first harvest, organic.
SPEAKER_02Jeez, I hope I'm getting the right brand. I had a doctor tell me about this one brand, and I buy a whole bunch of it.
SPEAKER_03No, you can just get olive leaf.
SPEAKER_02That's what I was gonna do.
SPEAKER_03So you drink it as a tea. So you'll get some. Or put it in your smoothies. You get more.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so olive, when you say get olive leaves, is that part of your brand?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have the olive leaf powder, the patented powder.
SPEAKER_02So you take the, so you can is this what you can get at Target?
SPEAKER_03No, Target, we have uh the lymphatic, uh, we have the tea strips.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So where do you get the olive powder?
SPEAKER_03I make it.
SPEAKER_02You make it, but where do normal people get it? We could buy it from you?
SPEAKER_03You can buy it from my website.
SPEAKER_02What's your website?
SPEAKER_03Olixir.com. O-ly-x-ir.com.
SPEAKER_02Okay. So you buy the powder and then you scoop it and put it in water?
SPEAKER_03You can put it in water, you can put it in your smoothies, you can put it on your salad, you can put it whatever, you know.
SPEAKER_02And that will take the place of the olive oil shot.
SPEAKER_03Yes. And the the beauty of it is it's not oxidized. There's no um and there's no fat or calories in it. So, you know, when people are drinking olive oil in these big quantities, I'm like, yeah, just had a lot of calories right there. I'm serious.
SPEAKER_02I chug it. I chug it because I heard I overdo it. When I hear something's good for you, I want to do as much of it as I can. I was just told the other day, my doctor, um, she did one of those tests where they take your blood and they they look at all your vitamins.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And she was like, I'm taking too many vitamins. So she told me to stop. I had to stop taking multivitamins, stop taking this, stop thinking. I'm gonna have a meeting with her next week because I think I take too much. Too much vitamin. What are some of the supplements that you take yourself?
SPEAKER_03I don't take supplements.
SPEAKER_02You don't take supplements?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02Well, just olive powder?
SPEAKER_03Uh well, I mean, I have a lot of teas. So I have like the lymphatic cleanse tea, it has a guarani, mamate, lemon balm, ginger. I have the lymphatic PM, it has turmeric, uh, it has olive leaf. Uh, olive leaf actually is in a lot of the strips too. Uh, but I I really rely on uh a balanced diet and proper hydration. And um, I love uh Dr. Gonzalez's uh stem cells. I think, listen, uh, everybody says, oh, it's too expensive. I'm like, listen, how much are you spending on silly supplements, which is pardon my French, expensive fee at the end of the day? Because people are taking their iron uh with the coffee, they're taking the vitamins. Nobody knows what they're doing most of the time with the supplements. They just take them and just shove them.
SPEAKER_02That's what I was telling you.
SPEAKER_03And they're taking them with coffee, without food, like vitamin D is not bioavailable without fat, and you have to take it with K. You know, so people instead of doing all that, just save yourself, go to Cabo, yeah, get a stem cell treatment, and just live forever young and healthy.
SPEAKER_02How many stem cell treatments have you had?
SPEAKER_03Three.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. I've had 10.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wow. Lucky you.
SPEAKER_02Do you do the NK cells too?
SPEAKER_03I've done the NK cells and two extra cells. Those are amazing. I am talking, I'm telling every one of my friends who have kids, not for your sake, for the sake of your children, go to the NK cell treatment.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03Because they are they go in the body and they kill the cancer, they kill everything that's not good, all disease. So you stay, not only do you stay healthy, but you stay living for a long time, disease-free for yourself and your family.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So that's for me, is like And now Rafael was in here a couple weeks ago telling me about the new thing. It's the NK cells. Normally, it's your blood. Yeah. Now they have donor NK cells that are more powerful.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I want to get that. Because right now you're doing your own, right?
SPEAKER_03Sandra, you're gonna live forever.
SPEAKER_02I that's what I want to. Do you sauna too and all that?
SPEAKER_03I'm not a big fan of um too much sauna. Maybe I'll do it like once a week. I have a sauna at home, but I just don't use it a lot. And I think people who sauna need to be cautious. They need to protect their head and their productive organs, especially men. They need to like put ice, um, and there's special hats that you put on your head to protect from.
SPEAKER_02I have some of the hats and I
Teabags Release Billions Of Plastics
SPEAKER_02don't like wearing them. But the protective organs, like, is it like I already have kids? Is it to stop you? Is it is it that or does it do damage? Like, I don't I don't know because that's a Brian Johnson guy. Yeah. He's like always talking about putting ice pack on your huebos rancheros so that it protects your organs, but I'm like, uh Well, I mean for sexual health, I guess, you know, like I don't know. So Oh, you mean it could hurt you sexually, that health part?
SPEAKER_03I I have not dug very deep into it, but I know that there's a you know, there are a lot of studies right now, um, long-term studies on using sauna on reproductive health and reproductive organs.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I didn't I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_03I like to work out. Uh-huh. So that's one thing I do. I do weight training, resistance training, bodies, um yoga, yoga, cardio, whatever, however I'm feeling.
SPEAKER_02Do you monitor yourself? Like with this?
SPEAKER_03Like no.
SPEAKER_02You don't take vitamins, you don't monitor yourself.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02You tell stem cells is the is the answer.
SPEAKER_03Stem cells, NK cells. I eat my steak. I love my steak. I love my butter. Um, I like my water in glass bottles. I will not drink cla water from a plastic bottle. Do you know that one little liter of plastic water bottles sheds 240,000 particles in your body?
SPEAKER_02240,000 particles of plastic? Yes.
SPEAKER_03Do you know that canned stuff that you have there?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right here, like this.
SPEAKER_03You know those cans?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03These are not cans, these are cans with plastic inside them. They put acid on the outside, it's just literally a plastic tube on the inside. And you know You're killing me, Josephine.
SPEAKER_02You're killing me today.
SPEAKER_03They found a lot of microplastics, thousands of microplastics in cans. People who ate one can soup per day over the course of five days had an increase in urinary BPA of 1200%.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So you know, I stay away from all that stuff.
SPEAKER_02So, but how how do you stay away? It's everywhere. So if you go to a restaurant, what do you do?
SPEAKER_03If I go to a restaurant, first of all, I am I look up the restaurant before I go. I make sure they don't use seed oils, they use organic vegetables, um, and I ask about their meat, where they get it from, and all that stuff. So uh I when I go to restaurants, I'm like already my homework on the restaurant, and if I have to go where it's a social thing. I just don't really I don't eat a lot. I just go socialize and Okay.
SPEAKER_02What about this? Your refrigerator. Isn't there plastic in your refrigerator?
SPEAKER_03Yes, but cold does not destabilize microplastics. So it's heat that is the lethal combination with plastic. Oh and spicy foods, acidic foods, acidic stuff.
SPEAKER_02What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03Like if you have a a um spicy sauce bottle of plastic in your fridge, you have microplastics and that spicy sauce because the acidity corrodes the microplastics and the sauce. Same with yogurt. Like I don't understand. I don't understand the logic behind putting yogurt in plastic containers. Because there's enzymes that are gonna eat up the plastic and they're gonna bring it into your yogurt. That's why the Chabani had a big lawsuit. Do you think they were putting plastic in your food? No, they didn't know. They didn't know any better. They were putting the yogurt, heat sealing it, and storing it in plastic.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_03What do you think is gonna happen?
SPEAKER_02Is there a brand of yogurt then that you recommend?
SPEAKER_03There is one. It's a glass jar. It's I don't know what it's called. I just I know where it is. So I go to the grocery store and I find it.
SPEAKER_02I have a I have three.
SPEAKER_03I'll send it to you. I'll send it to you. Please do.
SPEAKER_02I have three sons.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02My middle son is 22 years old and he's obsessed with health, and he will not, he's very much away from microphone. Please. He when he makes eggs, he uses a wooden spatula. Yes. He uses the bamboo toothbrush, right?
SPEAKER_03Let me tell you, he's doing the right thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Those plastic cooking utensils, those are made from recycled electronics. So you are having not only are you having plastic, by the way, plastic is not just coming by itself. It's coming with BPA, BBS, phthalates, it's coming with pesticides, and it's coming with uh a film of infection that's collected along the way, heavy metals. So the plastic that we are consuming that that's going in our body that's been used in all the products that we are consuming every day is loaded with a lot of other things. So, you know, plastic cooking utensils and the plastic to go containers, those are made from recycled uh electronics, and they have everything that resi the electronics have in them. So, what does your phone have in it? Chromium, da da da. So, and when it cut when it touches the heat, all of that is getting released.
SPEAKER_02But cold is okay. So there's a brand of yogurt called Siggy's that I really like.
SPEAKER_03But it's the enzymes that are breaking down.
SPEAKER_02So when you have it in the plastic right. Well, I want to jump back to something you said about your dad again. Because you said you were like, why not his brother? Why not your uncle? Did you ever investigate that? Is you is he still around? Your uncle?
SPEAKER_03Um, yeah, but I, you know, I I just I moved I I don't interact with the family at all.
SPEAKER_02Oh, but I was just because like, so my dad died at 66 of a heart attack. My mom died at 66 of brain cancer. But my mom's all my this is 20 years ago, my mom's sisters and brothers are still alive.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I and it's so many times I think I'm like, why, why her? What did she do? But she what she used to do, she would always have the uh sweetenlow and Diet Coke all the time. So that's what I blame without research on it. That's just what I blame. But I always think that. And then sometimes I think, like, you know, losing your father at a young age. I've lost my father at a young age too, and now my kids are growing up, they didn't get to know him. I get so upset sometimes. Do you ever sit there and go, like, I'll meet somebody, their dad's or grandfather is 105 years old. And I'm like, how come why can't I get that? Why didn't I have that? Do you ever get angry like that?
SPEAKER_03Yes. I mean, my grandma, my dad's mom is a hundred.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and she's still around.
SPEAKER_03And she's still around, and she's so active and she cooks and she gets up and she literally gardens and she's so full health brain. She would tell you stories when my dad was five years old.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_03Um, with detail. Like with I'm like, I don't remember what I ate for lunch.
SPEAKER_02Do you talk to her and give her like your product?
SPEAKER_03I talk to her at least once a week.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I it's one of my um like sacred things that I do. You know, I go to church every Sunday when I'm home, and I have to talk to my grandma once a week, and these things are like non-negotiable.
SPEAKER_02That's great. That's great. But is she like, uh, do you say, hey, try this tea I made? Try, try the all the are you trying to keep her around? Like giving her all the healthy stuff.
SPEAKER_03You know, I'm actually learning from her. I'm like, grandma, what do you do? What does she do? What's the secret? What have you learned? You know what she told me? One time I was sitting with her, just the two of us, and my daughter was sitting with us, and she, I'm like, tell me, tell me the secret. What do you do? She doesn't use any creams, she's not doing any biohacking, she's not taking any supplement, she doesn't take any medicine, not a pill. And she said, you know, there's one very important thing. Stress is the most lethal lethal thing for the body. She's like, never hold on to grudges, never hold on to negative thoughts, never hold on to stress. Yes, we are all human beings, we get aggravated, but in the moment, and then let it go. She that was one of her main um main advices. And she eats whole foods, right? She eats her meat, she is not scared of her butter, and she uses ghee like it's water. She uses ghee like everything is swimming in ghee. And uh, you know, she's so healthy, her skin is so like shiny and soft, and uh like you know, we just we have to learn. She eats her eggs in the morning, she uh all the things I keep hearing about.
SPEAKER_02I keep hearing about ghee a lot. Ghee and grass-fed butter, but I don't know the difference between ghee and gas grass-fed butter.
SPEAKER_03Well, ghee is shelf stable with that fridge. And grass-fed butter, I think you need to put it in the fridge. There's a little processing. I think you like they boil it. I don't I don't know how to make ghee really, but we've made butter
Can You Detox Microplastics?
SPEAKER_03and we make it from like heavy. We make butter? Yeah. We make butter and sourdough bread. No.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, me neither.
SPEAKER_03No, it's a neurotoxin, it's terrible for your health. It's it's just I don't know. There's I know so much about alcohol where I don't want to put it in my body.
SPEAKER_02Right? Isn't that interesting? Because I was just you and I were both in Cancun a couple weeks ago and for this longevity convention with all these doctors, and then they had this huge party where everyone was getting drinking. I was like, I was sitting there thinking, what is it nowadays? Like, there's so much information out there of how bad it is that to drink alcohol, and yet people are still out there drinking alcohol.
SPEAKER_03You know, that's what I love about they've asked for you. So I did his conference, right? And he had the biggest party, coolest party ever. Steve Ayoki was DJing. It was the best time. There was zero alcohol in sight.
SPEAKER_02That's cool.
SPEAKER_03Zero. And he really, that man, walks his talk.
SPEAKER_02Really? I can't wait to talk to him.
SPEAKER_03He's not compromising. He's not compromising. He doesn't care. He's gonna stick to his beliefs and his like you know, principles.
SPEAKER_02What about psychedelics?
SPEAKER_03Is that I do not do psychedelics.
SPEAKER_02Um He looks like the kind of guy that would do psychedelics.
SPEAKER_03He actually has uh a conference that's um something land, and it's like a around psychedelics. Oh um yeah, I don't know. You know, there's a lot of controversy around it. Yeah. A lot of people have lost their like whole personality, her their whole memory, everything from um that stuff. And I think like you know there's something called neuroplasticity, right? There's something called metacognition. Why don't we just do that, right? Why do we need to like always escape? Always find a substance that's outside of our we are the most powerful beings on planet earth. We have so much within us to heal ourselves, to overcome difficulties. But I think it's the lazy uh we evolved into a lazy species, and we are just now just always, you know, we want just something from outside of us, an easy fix, a fast uh solution, a band-aid that just covers the issues instead of actually fixing it and digging through with the case.
SPEAKER_00John Jay is getting an MRI total body longevity scan. It'll scan from basically his head all the way down to mid-thigh.
SPEAKER_02My father died at the age of 66 of a massive heart attack. My mother died at the age of 66 with uh glioblastoma. Here I am, a dad of three young boys, very really young. So I've been obsessed with my health pretty much ever since. So I'm really excited about the full body scan. I'm excited about the heart scan, but I'm also excited about the full body scan to make sure there's nothing up here. It'd be great to be tumor-free. So I'm really excited to get those results. I feel pretty good about that.
SPEAKER_00The whole process takes about an hour from start to finish. It's a very easy, painless procedure. You just have to lay there quietly and try to be as still as possible.
SPEAKER_02And I always feel at ease when I come to Simon Med. It's like family here. Who are some of the um longevity experts or biohackers that are out there? You mentioned Dave Asprey already, that you respect and that you look at and you listen to.
SPEAKER_03I mean, Dr. Rafael Gonzalez is one of the smartest, most informed people I've ever spoken to. And by the way, when I meet other people at other conferences and stem cell people, and they come and tell me about their stem cells. I'm like, you know, the only stem cells I would do is um from ReHealth and Dr. Rafael Gonzalez. And you know, these people tell me, a lot of them, they tell me that they've learned everything they know from his papers and his research.
SPEAKER_02Other stem cell clinics.
SPEAKER_03Yes, other stem cell people. So I'm like, okay, yeah, go take a rest.
SPEAKER_02I'll be like, I'll go, hey Rafael, I go, this stem cell clinic reached out to me uh in where is it? Um Dominican Republic or Colombia.
SPEAKER_03And he's like, Oh, yeah, yeah, I taught them how to do he's amazing, and he knows so much. Like, aside from stem cells, aside from you know, just uh exodomes and stem cells, anything you talk to him about, and I've been so blessed to spend some time with him, you know, when we went to Saudi Arabia, whatever conferences, I'm always kind of like ending up in the same place with him for several days, and I get to have you know conversations with him. I've learned so much and I respect him so much. Um, but yeah, I don't I don't know. I learned a little bit from everybody and that.
SPEAKER_02Are you into the peptides and all that?
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_02What do you think about all that stuff?
SPEAKER_03I think there is not enough human studies on the long-term health problems that arise from peptide use. Um, we don't know what they how they impact heart health. We don't know how they impact tumorous cancers, uh, cancer, you know, in general. Uh, we don't know how they impact just our veins in our body. Like, okay, like uh BPC 157 helps you heal because it rushes a lot of blood to the to the you know the injured um whatever part of your body. But okay, what is it doing to the rest of the body? Right. How is the heart responding to that? How is a long-term use? Listen, if one time you get injured and you use it one time and it's just localized and you get it. The other thing is like because of how it's so unregulated, you know, a lot of the peptides that have been uh studied have no peptides in them. They're coming from Chinese labs, no CFAs, no third-party testing, heavy metals. Uh, you don't know, people don't know what they're injecting in their blood. So, aside from the fact that we don't know
Where Plastic Hides In Daily Life
SPEAKER_03what the long-term health benefits are, we don't know what's in most of these things that people are injecting their cells with. So for me, it's a no.
SPEAKER_02I'm kind of a guinea pig. I'll I I'll do it. I just I'll try it. I try it all. In fact, I just tried something the other day. If I if you could see, I had this mark on my arm. Oh, it's gone. And I asked Rafael about it first. So this lady reached out to me. She has a peptide company and it's that copper what you tried? It was a it was a patch.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it has a battery.
SPEAKER_03Ooh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So you put this patch on, you hit turn the battery on.
SPEAKER_03Is it like a slow release?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for like 12 hours. And uh it was for NAD and something else. And I I put it on, then I text Rafael.
SPEAKER_03What did he say?
SPEAKER_02He said he was at this conf this conference. I was supposed to be there, the A1 or whatever it is, the A4. A4M. A4M at that one. And he said that he had saw it there and that there's proof that it's what do you call it when it's in your skin? Trans transdermal. Yeah, he said he there's proof that it's transdermal. He had seen it at the thing. That's all he that's all I said. I said, Well, I'm trying it right now, but I didn't, I can't tell. See, that's the thing too. Stem cells, I believe a hundred percent in stem cells, but I don't really feel any different, except for I think I'm better in life. Like I have energy, you know, I get up at three o'clock in the morning. I never take naps. I'm always on the move. I feel good generally all the time. And I think that's the stem cells. But someone will be like, oh, you got stem cells over the weekend. How do you feel? Like to me, there was no difference, you know? Was it for you?
SPEAKER_03I felt with my first stem cell treatment. So I I was, I'm I'm a new mom, right? And I was I used to carry my daughter a lot. So one of my knees, my right knee used to hurt me a lot. And I was like, what am I gonna do? Like I was really going to doctors to figure out what what I'm gonna do with it. And I don't really love doctors, medical doctors, because they, you know, they wanna give you all kinds of stuff that doesn't really work except for their own pockets. So my knee pain went away completely from the first treatment.
SPEAKER_02Did you get injections then knee? Or just IV?
SPEAKER_03No, I just got an IV. And I am myopic. So at night I have to wear glasses to drive.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_03I got back when I got back and I was driving, it was at night. I took my glasses to put them on, it was fuzzy. So I did not need my glasses anymore. Wow. So I know it fixed my vision and it fixed my knees. So those are two things that are measurable that I can actually tell you really happened for me.
SPEAKER_02No, that happened to my wife too, with her eyes. She had something like that happened with her.
SPEAKER_03And I know Dr. Pompa too. He stopped wearing it.
SPEAKER_02I just drank Dr. Pompa too, yeah. So Dr. Pompa is another person you look at. Have you met Huberman?
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, Dr. Pompa is another amazing mentor of mine, actually. And he has been an amazing advocate for my business, for my tea strips, obviously, without any uh benefits or financial uh you know interests. He's a really nice guy. He just genuinely, him and his wife, Marilee, are such great human beings. They are truly like a gift from the.
SPEAKER_02Are you doing the Pompa Live in Houston?
SPEAKER_03Uh yes, I'm gonna be there.
SPEAKER_02I was supposed to be there too. I was MC, I was hosting the thing, and then they changed the date on me, so I had to cancel.
SPEAKER_03They're gonna have my tea there.
SPEAKER_02Oh, good. Are they gonna be serving it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they're gonna be serving it.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of that's the tea right there.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so listen, listen. Um, okay, so we I had this beautiful green powder, right? And I wanted to bring it to the people. So I I brought um, I brought every tea bag that's on the market. I studied it, it had toxins, it had microplastics. I looked at the K cups, those are even worse because they are going, hot water is going through them. They're plastic, they are leaching. So I was like, okay, I have to invent a new way to do tea because nothing that's existing, and I'm very I don't like messes. So like powders, like you know, this single, I cannot deal with them because they'll go everywhere and I get frustrated and I'll just store them in the trash, right?
SPEAKER_02Wait, we stop you there. I started taking the tea every morning. It's a green tea. I rip it off, I pour it in, and when I put the piece of paper down to mix it, powder falls out. I know that pique or peak, yeah.
SPEAKER_03That alone can just drive me crazy. So I had to invite some I had to invent something that did not exist. And by the way, the teabag, I'm gonna give you a lot of hysteria on the teabag. The teabag was invented in 1907. It was there was a patent filed for a teabag by two women in Wisconsin. Um, and originally it was made out of silk. And then fast forward with like with the uh industrial colonization, uh with the machines and all that, the silk got replaced by paper laced with uh plastic. Because listen, the reason the reason why they have plastic is the paper, if you put it in water by itself, it will burst, it will disintegrate. So they need something to layer it with to prevent that bag from bursting or you leave going everywhere. So, right? So um then the teabag became commercialized by um Lipton and another company. Oh, yeah, Lipton. And so since 1907, no one has looked at the teabag, no one has questioned it, no one and by the way, if you look at people who drink tea, these are the more health conscious individuals.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03These are people who are thinking they are doing something good for their health.
SPEAKER_01Right, true.
SPEAKER_03So I thought, well, it was time to reinvent the tea.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03And um, instead of having a medium, instead of having something to dispense the tea, I was like, why don't we just use the tea itself as the medium? So the tea right now is the strip. And you put it in water, it completely dissolves.
SPEAKER_02There's no carrier, there's nothing so the tea bag is the tea?
SPEAKER_03The tea, yes.
SPEAKER_02So could you just take it and then eat it?
SPEAKER_03You could. You know, Ben uh Ben Greenfield does that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, he does.
SPEAKER_03A lot of people actually do that. A lot of He does it with your tea? Yes.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03He loves my tea. And yeah, he has actually a video. It's on our uh Instagram uh grid, and he he eats, he literally eats the tea. When I see him at conferences, I give him some tea, I'll just see him walking around eating the strips.
SPEAKER_02That's cool. So you literally invented you you're changing tea.
SPEAKER_03That's my goal. Um, I would like to like tea strips are literally my legacy. It's it's a it's something that I want to leave behind um to change people's health, but it's also uh going to help the environment a lot. There are six billion tea bags covered off every year globally, and uh these teabags, because of the plastic um on them, take about a hundred years to decompose, and they are a massive uh waste burden.
SPEAKER_02Do you have the patent on that?
SPEAKER_03So I have three patents.
SPEAKER_02But the teabag? So like they're competitors, but the tea strips up competitors can't.
SPEAKER_03No, yeah. And I have I have a firm that's constantly filing more disclaimers and claims to keep the patent very strong.
SPEAKER_02So right now, is that the elixir that's in Target? The the T-strips? This right here.
SPEAKER_03So um, this is one of them. And then they only carry two skews right now, but we just launched literally end of May. This is you should ask Dr. Gonzalez about the sleep tea. This saved his life when we were traveling one time in Saudi Arabia, and he's like, I can't sleep. I'm like, hold on, I have something for you. And the second day is like, I slept like a baby.
SPEAKER_02Is there magnesium in it? Melatonin?
SPEAKER_03Melatonin.
SPEAKER_02How much melatonin is in one cheese strip?
SPEAKER_03Uh, three milligrams.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_03But the beauty of this strip, let me explain to you. First of all, um, the the the melatonin gummies and pills, they have a lot of pillars, uh-huh, uh gelatin, all kinds of carriers.
Longevity Mindset Stress And Discipline
SPEAKER_03So um when you take them, the body doesn't know if it needs to relax or if it needs to digest.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03So even if you sleep you're not fully resting because the body's still working, it's digesting something, so it just like wakes back up. And the second thing is once it gets to the stomach, it gets digested by the stomach acid. So a lot of the active components don't really end up in in your bloodstream because they get um broken down in the in the stomach. That's the whole thing right there. That's the whole thing. And you put it in water, you drink it, it's get it gets absorbed in the mandibular glands. So you're absorbing it and then going in your glands, it's going straight into your just in your system. There's nothing for the body to uh deal with or break down or digest. And the uh chamomile is ground up, so the apigenin and the chamomile is activated. So you have epigenin', um, and you have the melatonin, which is very helpful for like a restful sleep. When you wake up, no grogginess, nothing. And the beauty of this, an added bonus, is if you don't want the whole three milligram, you can just tear the strip and have a third, you know, quarter of it. That is so interesting. Half of it, and uh you would just put it in water and you just put the rest in your pouch and you use it later.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so let me let me present this to you. I'm a uh I'm a guy I I try to I mean, I'm just gonna be, you know, we're having a medical discussion, so I don't want to pee three times in the middle of the night. Yeah. So when you drink it, you're putting water in and then you gotta pee it out. I'm gonna be like, so I would it be better to eat that before you go to bed so that way you don't have to.
SPEAKER_03Well, you can make it as a shop, so you can put it in a very small amount of water and just literally drink it as a shop.
SPEAKER_02And it dissolves pretty fast.
SPEAKER_03It dissolves very, very nicely, especially. Can I try that tonight?
SPEAKER_02Can I take that off?
SPEAKER_03Yes, of course. I will try that tonight.
SPEAKER_02I really want to I'm looking for all the sleep help I can get.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That is so interesting. No, do you also have a green tea?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so we have matcha. Uh we have uh organic, Japanese organic grade A matcha. Uh, we have black tea, um, we have uh uh mushroom tea, but it's quadriceps, which are studied for stamina and endurance. Um, I also have electrolytes.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you do have electrolytes?
SPEAKER_03I brought you one.
SPEAKER_02Oh, great, thanks. Uh and it's all on elixir.com?
SPEAKER_03It's all on elixir.com. And these are at Target nationwide, but not all the stores. It's at Select Stores, but it's on Target.com.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I'm sorry, you enter target.com. If you go to Target.com, you can buy that?
SPEAKER_03Yes, Target.com or Target. How do I get into Target? It's very funny. So for the longest time, my daughter loves Target. Right? We who doesn't love Target, right? We love Target, period. Right. It's like you know, Disneyland, you know. know right it's like everything is there my daughter always loves target and she's like oh you need to put Alex at Target you need to I'm like forget it it's a massive retailer there's no way and um last August I'm traveling in Europe I get an email somebody at target.com I love your tea and I want to bring a target and I was like this is a scam there's no out of the blue like I literally a cold email and I I took like a week to respond because I was sure it was somebody trying to scam me then I opened and I'm like like this is target.com so I responded I'm still not believing that this is as person from Target and it was the most wonderful lady and she's like I love your tea I've seen it I've discovered it multiple places and I think it's a great fit for Target especially they're doing a lot of wellness and sustainability efforts right now. And uh we had a few meetings um over Zoom and yeah they put us in their accelerator group which is um they just like it's a lot more support they they really support the business um you know they give us a lot of tools and um make us understand how to work with Target and we got into Target end of May.
SPEAKER_02Have you seen a lot of growth since you got into Target? Are people buying the stuff like do you see the the revenue coming in?
SPEAKER_03It's a lot of work to make your product move at Target. It is because the target consumer your average target consumer does not know who Elixir is.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_03They're not going to Target to buy Olixir so we're doing a lot of online stuff I'm posting a lot everybody I know is posting we're doing you know ads with them so it it takes a lot people are like wow you got a a big retailer but that's the first step right the all the effort comes after you have to keep it moving you have to keep minimum um sales you know units per per week uh to keep your shelf space so there's a lot of work that comes with being at a big box retailer.
SPEAKER_02Where are you where are you making it like where are you where do you make everything is in even the pouches I sourced them from a manufacturer in the US so it's fully but so then you're like you you call over and you're like hey I need 500 boxes shipped all these targets and they do it like they're they're I have a factory that you know I'm I've I've been at this for 12 years.
SPEAKER_03Yeah so Alex has been on the market for 10 years. I started my R D um 12 years ago. So I've optimized production and um it's like do you have a big staff optimal um at the factory we have like 25 people but for me I just have my assistant.
SPEAKER_02Is the 25 people are they working on your product or they also have work on other products and your product?
SPEAKER_03They are we do a little bit of other stuff but yeah.
SPEAKER_02And where'd you come up with the name Elixir?
SPEAKER_03Because the original product was olive leaf and elixir is the elixir of life so it was like a merger of the O and the elixir that's great. I I'm really excited to try it um so on the website elixir.com you can get the green tea the black tea the matcha or matcha is green tea is matcha in green matcha is green tea okay my most popular ones are the lymphatic uh teas they have specific herbs that help uh activation of the lymphatic system and there's one for the morning one for the evening and people absolutely love doing that um and it helps like people email me even my patent attorney she's like you know I've been doing your tea every day and my husband even noticed that I'm like less puffy and I'm like that's great so we get a lot of testimonials a lot of people with lipidema that use RT and they love it they really you know they're thanking us like thank you for creating such a great product and that's that's really is my goal in life that's great
Stem Cells Yes Peptides No
SPEAKER_03I want to have products out there to support people to help people so are you at I know I know you speak a lot but are you also having your product do you have a booth set up at places where you can sample it are you at a farmer's market are you at probably not at a farmer farmer's market we're not at the farmers market um but you know we do we do a lot of shows so I did the Dave Asprey show uh we're gonna be at the Pompa life um you're gonna be sampling it everybody's gonna be having the tea they're gonna be it's gonna be skinny and deep loaded what would you tell people that are watching right now or listening right now if you were to say hey if there's three things you can get out of your life right now like just stop doing. Wait before my daughter's gonna get mad at me if I forget my daughter who's 10 now when she was seven she created her own tea made with butterfly pea flour and strawberry and lemon you know strawberry and lemon and the way she did it is she called it magic tea because the butterfly pea is naturally blue and when you put lemon the pH changes and changes colors. So she thought it was a beautiful fun way for kids to have tea in a magical way. Yeah and she even drew the pouch and the pouch is fully compostable and it's fully colorable like people the kids can't color it because she she left a lot of white space for kids to make it their own that's great can you buy it too?
SPEAKER_02Yeah it's all the Alex here yeah is it's on the website olixir.com and is it butter it's called butterfly tea it's called magic tea magic tea that's a great name you're a genius we brought you some too you did yes of course thank you very exciting but I was gonna say so what would you tell people because right now off the top of my head after talking to you I want to go home and throw away all our plastic spatulas and spoons. I just want to get rid of them right and I want to just buy wooden ones wooden ones yes like what what is what what are some things that people are doing right now that they don't even realize is causing them to eat a lot of plastic okay I I would say the top things to really like if like kind of a no-brainer right plastic and heat don't work well together.
SPEAKER_03Plastic and acid don't work well together so spicy sauce anything that's acidic do not put it in plastic plastic and yogurt don't work well together. Do not use any plastic cutting boards because as you're cutting the food the plastic is actually coming out with the food. The pods that you put in the dishwasher that plastic wrapping is actually ending up on your plate and eventually in your food. So get rid of that the plastic uh the pods that you put in your in your laundry detergent also just use powder or you know not non-toxic liquid uh I would say one of the most important things for me is the bed sheets and the bedding and the and the pillows pillow stuffing well there's the alternative the down alternative and the polyester and all that stuff so I like down pillows down comforters organic and it's very important that it's certified uh I think it's g-o-t s got certified organic uh so they don't use any toxic dyes no flame retardant retardant because when you're sleeping that's when you are rejuvenating that's when you are you know repairing your body if you are surrounded if you're bathing in toxins you cannot repair yourself. Stay away from microwave popcorn those things are terrible just use just use a skillet like use you know olive oil some some kernels on the stove like just there's just so much happening right I wonder if there's a gonna be a big movement where companies are going to stop making this stuff in plastic you know well you know have you heard about al yoga and lemon getting sued for all the plastic in their clothes so you know workout clothing that's super tight on your body that you're sweating in all that friction all that heat is releasing the microplastics going in your dermis uh plastic water bottles there has been a big study on breast cancer actually linked to water bottles you know soccer moms leaving their water bottles in the cars and then drinking them and then the you know cancer rates went went up out of the roof um you know drink filter top top water um add some electrolyte do you have them in your house the whole I do and you know what I use I use aqua true they have the best it's a countertop very inexpensive and they always have some sales going on you you fill it with sink water and it comes out beautiful filtered microplastic toxin free water that you can just add some electrolyte to and drink.
SPEAKER_02Yes the picture is glass are you done the uh RFK stuff and gone on on his podcast I I I've done on the Maha podcast when they did the the Stomp program announcement they had the podcast right after so I was one of the people that went on uh with the Dr.
SPEAKER_03Eric Berg and other people what about Huberman?
SPEAKER_02Have you met him? I have not met Huberman um because I saw like just yesterday on your social media you're at a Beverly Hills fashion show. Is that your neighborhood do you live around there? Yeah so are you have you got any celebrity friends that you started getting to drink your tea? Because that's where all the famous people live.
SPEAKER_03Well every celebrity drinks my tea they do? You gotta get them the post about it then um that's the hard part is like these people are managed so even if I see them and I give them the tea and they're drinking and they're using it, they won't do anything without their management.
SPEAKER_02Right. Like who's a f who's a friend of yours that's famous?
SPEAKER_03Well you know my company has a malachi I've dressed Beyonce Madonna Lady Gaga Nicki Minaj uh Cardi Badu uh it's the jewelry it's like the headpieces and jewelry company yeah still it's still it's another going yeah what uh all this and and a mom even like Grace Jones I was with her that last summer for my birthday I was with her for for a while and she has my teeth just don't post you know but it's okay I don't want people to post you know what I want people to do I want people to love my product I want people to get all the health benefits from it and I want people to tell their friends and family about it.
SPEAKER_02That's all that's great. No that's that's coming from an authentic place.
SPEAKER_03There's a lot of posting but I want to talk about Malachi I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_02So is Malachi is a is a jewelry clothing brand?
SPEAKER_03It's a jewelry um so we make like really big avant-garde headpieces that's like the main business which is custom headpieces.
SPEAKER_02This is your company. Yeah what does Malachi mean?
SPEAKER_03It's my business partner.
SPEAKER_02His name is Malachi oh he's yeah he's the main designer so um but yeah it's just we make really cool really cool pieces like you know when Beyonce was pregnant with the twins and she got the gold that was my company that did that oh you mean when you wait when she made the announcement when when she had like the gold jewelry on her and she was performing with like when she was pregnant yes that was her wow um Madonna for the Megala we did um I
Tea Strips Sleep Support And Scaling
SPEAKER_02don't know like a lot of a lot of people that's amazing yeah wow that's that's tremendous how do you run so many companies like what else oh and also I remember I was asking Rafael I told him I said that you were coming in he said you have a winery too. I do what you gotta do now is what are you gonna do when people start putting like vodka in your tea?
SPEAKER_03It's a Demeter certified biodynamic winery.
SPEAKER_02It's a what?
SPEAKER_03Demeter certified biodynamic winery so um the reason why I I did it is because I wanted to do biodynamic farming. So the vineyard is uh biodynamically uh farmed and it's dry farmed so the the wine is super low in sugar high in minerals no pesticides no fertilizers no chemicals whatsoever from start to finish and everything is aged in French oak barrels in a winery from 1881. Wow where can people buy the wine uh Erwan has the wine oh it's one of those Erwan plate wines uh the tea is also at Erwan Alex is at Erwan um and it's at El Pastallo Giorgio Baldi Spago Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills carries it so what's the name of the wine Chateau Bellevue Chateau what? Bellevue Bellevue wow it's the original name that the uh when it was founded that was the original name and I just wanted to preserve that when did you take it over? 2016.
SPEAKER_02Wow so are you uh understand all that stuff like you go and you take this when you oh no you don't drink wine you don't drink I spit it oh you do I have a spit bucket wow no I got a person from France and it taught me how to make wine wow that is so interesting well you are an interesting human being and thank you and all this you have your daughter with you all the time you travel with her everywhere yeah and how did does she enjoy it?
SPEAKER_03Is she like oh we're gotta go here again oh you know what she tells me I have so much fun traveling with you mommy. That's good she's gonna have good memories yes wow she's been like all over the world all over the United States she's been to the best conferences she sat at you know some of the most amazing meetings like right my meeting with Target buyer in Minneapolis she was sitting there right school she goes literally everywhere with me and she's homeschooled uh because I you know there's one one important thing for me and when you mentioned Huberman I wanted to get back to it is Huberman recently became a believer and he started talking about God and how much God gives him peace and how important it is to believe in God. And that's something that's very important for me. It's like one of the main pillars of my life and how I'm raising my daughter is in Christianity. So my daughter you know is learning about religion she's learning about God she's learning about the Christ and she is going to be raised as a proper human being who believes in God. I I don't buy into a lot of the agendas that are going on in schools right now and uh I want her and she you know we have homeschooling groups uh 12 kids we have two and they're both each one is 12 kids and they're all like minded people they don't give their kids sugar no screens uh you know we all pray we start our day with prayer and uh we love our kids we love our kids it's important there's a big war right now there's a big spiritual war on motherhood and on the family on the nuclear family we need to love our kids we need to spread more love and we need to make it cool because right now people think it's not cool to be a mom it's not cool oh it's more cool to have a nanny to have an au pair no we need to make being a mom cool again right being a real mom not a fake mom take her for the pictures and then give her back to the nanny okay because I know a lot of those.
SPEAKER_02Yeah no that's a good point I agree with you I think being a mom is the most important job in the world.
SPEAKER_03Yeah because if the family that's what's happening right now all the addiction all the crime if we had a proper nuclear family if if we had just a proper mother that's raising her kids properly and taking care of her family I think a lot of the stuff that we see happening right now will be avoided.
SPEAKER_02Do you get any negative feedback when you make comments like that on social media or anything I don't care. I don't read comments you don't read the comments that's I do not read comments.
SPEAKER_03I sometimes I get calls from my friends like oh my God you saw the video I'm like I don't read the comments because people are you know if somebody's gonna be you know um criticizing me they have to be more successful than me they have to be smarter than me they have to be kinder than me they have to have something better than me going on and all these keyboard warriors have nothing going on. Most of them don't have real pictures they don't have real names so why would I let them get into my energy? Why do I'm gonna read their negative points and their negative words and let that mess up my day so I'm like right away.
SPEAKER_02Where'd you learn that? Where'd you learn how'd you get that? My grandma really that's do you meditate at all? And I know you pray but do you meditate?
SPEAKER_03Yeah I my dad taught me yoga until I was five years old. So I started doing yoga so I was five five years old.
SPEAKER_02Wow because that's a that's a good space that's a a beautiful state to be in to not have to deal with that.
SPEAKER_03I mean you know we are all just walking each other home right so it's like we can stand up and you know have uh have at it with people sometimes sometimes if I'm just like refreshing and something pops at me I'll go and leave a comment that literally make them apologize to me. Oh that's good most people you know what uh people who actually have pictures and have real names are women who are attacking me. And I'm like shame on you. You look old enough to be a grandma one of them was on Dr. Wilco's uh video podcast I'm like you look old enough to be a grandma how are you raising your grandkids what kind of a role model are you wow attacking another woman it's pretty shocking the people the things they say like when they come after me sometimes I've I've learned to have thick yeah how how do you do deal with that?
SPEAKER_02Oh I just let it go. Do you read comments? Sometimes I do when I'm on the toilet um but I will like uh flush it down when uh uh I I don't really care about the negative comments or mean people unless they come after my wife and kids and that's when I block I don't ever block anybody or delete that's why I don't post my daughter or when I post her if you notice I put an emoji on her. That's why I was always wondering why you did that and I thought it was I keep my personal life super private. That's good. That's good. Well I got a lot of respect for you and thank you so much for coming on this podcast. It was really cool really really cool. And then there's gonna be part two you're gonna come on my radio show tomorrow and do something else. That'll be fun too.
SPEAKER_03That'll drop before this podcast but anyway well thank you Josephine thank you so much oh so elixir.com or target.com yes and you know obviously Instagram OEXR O L Y X I R and then my Instagram is Josephine Musco with an underscore and what about the wine comments no don't leave any bad comments what about can people buy the wine online? I know no because the you know the the alcohol thing is so complicated I never put it in place so we can sell online so now it's just we sell direct to businesses.
SPEAKER_02Oh because I have a friend of mine who's a hardcore wine person. I'm gonna get him a bottle of wine have you sign it yes people do do you sign that? Do people do that?
SPEAKER_03I actually used to uh hand draw I made a limited edition white white wine and I hand painted all the bottles and Giorgio Baldi bought them all. Who did Giorgio Baldi?
SPEAKER_02I don't know who's that when you go to LA uh you need to make it a point to go have dinner at Giorgio Baldi it's in Santa Monica it's one of the most authentic Italian restaurants Giorgio Baldi Baldi my sister lives in Santa Monica yeah ask her about Giorgio Baldi okay Giorgio Basaldi Giorgio Giorgio Baldi I'll text you I'll text you I'm gonna text her when you're done well thank you Josephine thanks for coming awesome okay so welcome to our podcast this is a little bit different today because this podcast is a spin-off of our radio show
